Choosing where to sleep in Medellín is a logistics decision. Choosing a loft is a decision about how you are going to inhabit the city: whether you will cook or eat out, whether you will work from the room, whether you want to have breakfast in the sun, whether you are travelling to slow down or to go out every night. La Doble Ele has five lofts, and none of them is a “better” version of another: they are five different ways of being here.
This is the guide we use when a guest writes to us without knowing which one to book. First, what all five share. Then each one by name. And at the end, four date-checked plans so you can match your loft to what is happening in the city.
What all five lofts share
They are all in the same building at Carrera 36 #10a-35, a few blocks from Provenza and Vía Primavera, they all wrap around an interior courtyard with tropical gardens, and they all share the same base:
- King bed, for one or two guests.
- Between 60 and 66 m²; the two duplexes add 38 m² upstairs.
- Exposed concrete, local stone, timber and unexpected geometries: tropical postmodernism as a language, not as decoration.
- Views over the interior courtyard, daylight all day, and none of the noise of the nightlife district.
- A kitchen — or at least everything needed for breakfast and coffee inside the room.

Five ways of living here, one by one
Soul — for staying a week and forgetting you are travelling
It is the largest duplex in the building: 66 m² downstairs and 38 m² upstairs, on the top floor, overlooking the courtyard and the city. It has a kitchen, living area, dining space, a hydromassage tub and a private terrace; the bedroom sits upstairs under a warm wooden vault, with its own bathroom and walk-in closet. It is the memory of the building turned into a place to stay. See Soul.
Choose it if you are staying a while, travelling as a couple, and you want to cook at home without giving up a terrace.
Rhythm — for the traveller who needs private open air
Also a top-floor duplex: 63 m² plus 38 m², with the feel of a private apartment. Downstairs, a kitchen, living area, dining space, jacuzzi and a terrace with a hammock; upstairs, the private bedroom under a wooden vault with its own bathroom and walk-in closet. Tropical vegetation blends into the surroundings, and by six in the afternoon the place feels like another country. See Rhythm.
Choose it if you want the terrace, the jacuzzi and a hammock nap, and you work on some of your days.
Woven — for breakfast with daylight instead of a screen
60 m² with floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony over the interior courtyard, wrapped in tropical greenery. It is the brightest loft of the group and the one that best suits a slow coffee, a book and a morning conversation. See Woven.
Choose it if you are here for two or three nights and want your own corner of open air without leaving the building.
Root — for a slow stay and deep work
61 m² of open, fluid design, with multifunctional furniture connecting every area without partitions: the desk becomes the dining table and the sofa becomes the place where you read at nine at night. It is the quietest of the five and the one that asks the least movement inside the room. See Root.
Choose it if you are staying for a long stretch to work, or you are here to do nothing at all with real discipline.
Moon — for a first visit to Medellín
60 m² overlooking the courtyard and its gardens, natural light all day and a flexible layout that creates different atmospheres within one open space. It is the entry point to the building and the one that works best when your itinerary is out there, not in here. See Moon.
Choose it if you travel light, it is your first time in the city, and you would rather spend on plans than on square metres.
Three questions before you book
- How many nights? Up to three, Moon or Woven. Four to seven, Root. More than a week, Soul or Rhythm: the kitchen and the second floor change the stay.
- Will you be out all day or staying in? If the city is the plan from morning to night, you do not need a duplex. If the loft is part of the trip, you do.
- Do you need private outdoor space? Terrace with greenery: Woven, Rhythm and Soul. Big window without a balcony: Moon and Root.

Four date-checked plans (September 25 to October 12)
1. Extended Night at the MAMM — Friday 25 September, free entry
The Museum of Modern Art stays open from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with free entry: guided walkthroughs of the galleries and an open-air film screening on the plaza at 7:00 p.m. (weather permitting). It is in Ciudad del Río, fifteen minutes from the hotel. Our art, neighbourhood and design experiences pass through there.
2. “Débora Arango. Mirar sin miedo” — 25 September to 25 October
An immersive, interactive experience about the most uncomfortable Colombian painter of the twentieth century, at the MAMM, with timed sessions from 4:15 p.m. and a last entry at 8:45 p.m. Tickets for the experience are separate from museum admission. If art is why you travel, this is the city’s main appointment this season.
3. Altavoz International Festival — 10, 11 and 12 October, free entry
The 23rd edition brings 59 local, national and international acts to Estadio Cincuentenario and Parque Norte, with rap, reggae, ska, rock, punk, electronica, metal and core, plus guests such as Possessed, La Mosca and The Adolescents. Three free days and a good reason to leave the neighbourhood without joining the usual nightlife circuit.
4. Heritage Month — until 30 September
Throughout September the city opens museums, heritage houses and guided routes with special programming that closes on the 30th. It is the cheapest plan of the month and the one that pairs best with a morning walk through El Poblado. Check each venue’s schedule before heading out: every space sets its own.
Eating and resting without leaving the neighbourhood
Whichever loft you pick, the logistics are the same: the kitchen handles breakfast and everything else is on foot. Our gastronomy and bar is in the same building, with seasonal fruit cocktails and regional produce; for long work days or deep rest there is the wellness and spa programme. And if you are coming from the airport or plan to move around by Metro, the location and contact page has the address and the routes.
